We have a Katie Holmes sighting!
Less than one week after filing to divorce her husband of five years, Tom Cruise, Holmes, 33, was spotted running errands with her daughter, Suri, 6, in New York City on Wednesday. She was spotted and photographed in a Whole Foods store -- she picked up ground beef, hamburger rolls and strawberries, if you must know -- and told a New York Daily News reporter, "I'm all right, thank you." And she appeared to be chipper spirits, the Daily News said.
The twosome was accompanied by a security guard on their Wednesday morning shopping spree.
The appearance came a day after Cruise's birthday, during which he flew from Iceland, where he's shooting the film "Oblivion," to Los Angeles. But Us Weekly reports that Cruise pleaded with Holmes to come to Iceland so they cold celebrate his 50th birthday together and discuss a reconciliation. Holmes rejected the idea and the two had a "huge fight," a source told the magazine.
Meanwhile, People magazine reported that Holmes secretly planned her split from Cruise for weeks.
"She was talking to Tom on the phone up until last week saying, 'I love you,'" a source told People.
How a "source" could know that without bugging someone's phone is beyond us, but we digress.
"Her inner circle has been planning this and switching out cell phones since she was in China (in mid-June)," the source added. "When new cell phones arrived, then nobody could reach her.
Her old best friends from last week don't have her new number, no e-mail. She's unreachable."
Holmes, 33, also rented her new apartment in New York City in early June, apparently with the idea of establishing a safe haven after the split. "(Tom) knew that she moved there, but (he thought it was) for different reasons," says the source.
"She said she moved there to drive into the underground garage. There are fewer paparazzi and it's less intrusive for her," says the source. "It was the first phase of getting everything out of the house, and that's why she was able to say she's moving without giving an indication that she was going to divorce him."
Last week, her father, Martin Holmes, came to New York to help Katie "clean house," People magazine said. She fired the security team and publicity agents who had been assigned to her by Cruise, and then filed divorce papers in Manhattan.
Cruise "had no idea this was coming," the source told People.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Tom Cruise's personal life may be in upheaval, but it's still business as usual for the studio promoting his next movie.
Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Cruise's crime drama "Jack Reacher," which opens Dec. 21. The trailer launched on Cruise's 50th birthday with Tuesday's debut of "The Amazing Spider-Man."
The start of the movie's marketing campaign coincides with the breakup of Cruise's marriage to Katie Holmes, who filed for divorce last week.
The divorce has brought fresh scrutiny to Cruise's ties to Scientology. His beliefs played a role in Paramount's split with the actor in 2006 over his discussion of his religion and his erratic behavior regarding his romance with Holmes.
Paramount has since made up with Cruise, releasing his blockbuster "Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol" to a $690 million worldwide haul.
"Tom is a huge movie star for the right reason. He's a very talented actor whose movies have entertained millions of fans," Paramount said in a statement. "His ability to make a great movie, as we saw with the most recent installment in the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise - the most successful of the series to date - is the thing that moviegoers remember above all else."
Adapted from a novel by Lee Child, "Jack Reacher" stars Cruise as an ex-military investigator caught up in the case of a sniper accused of killing five people.
