The Viper Room may forever be remembered as the site of River Phoenix's untimely death from a drug overdose in 1993, which tragically took place a few months after the club opened. Despite his death, however, many A-list actors quickly made the venue their unofficial hangout in the 90s, among them Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston. Johnny Depp owned The Viper Room until 2004, and since then the venue has gone through several different owners. Today The Viper Room continues to host various bands from all genres of music, like punk, metal, blues, and alternative rock. So before you see a show there, here's everything you'll need to know.

If you're coming from West Hollywood or Hollywood, you'll just need to head west on Sunset Boulevard. Pretty simple.

Those coming from South Bay and the beach cities, will need to take the 405 North and get off at Exit 55A toward Santa Monica Boulevard. Turn right onto Santa Monica Boulevard and drive for about four and a half miles until you reach North San Vicente Boulevard. Turn left on North San Vicente Boulevard, drive for a little over a half a mile, and then make another right when you hit Sunset Boulevard. The Viper Room will be on your right.

Those traveling from Pasadena need to take the 110 South to the 101 North, then get off at Exit 8A for Sunset Boulevard. Turn right on Sunset and drive for about four and a half miles. The Viper Room will be on your left.

If you're coming from the San Fernando Valley, take the 101 South and get off at the Highland Avenue Exit. Continue onto Highland, and then make a right at Sunset Boulevard. Drive for three miles and The Viper Room will be on your left.

Those coming from Orange County should take the 5 North to the 101 North. From there you'll want to get off at the Sunset Boulevard Exit and make a right. Drive for four and a half miles and The Viper Room will be on your left.

What's the parking like if I drive?

What's the seating situation like?
