CD review: Plan B

'Who Needs Actions When You Got Words' (Cordless)

English hip-hop ruffian Plan B is a Euro Eminem full of brash, deranged lyrics delivered with rapid-fire bravado and Cockney slang. Although the lyrical content is nothing new (troubled home life and the rest of the "street" mythos), the beats pull everything together with a slick U.K. sensibility and strong electronic influence. Plan B also brings trance ("Sick 2 Def"), industrial ("No Good") and old fashioned folk ("Mama") into the mix, adding another dimension to the fertile, underground hip-hop movement.
