Culture & Recreation

Looking to tone your body? Or is it your mind you’re trying to improve? Koreatown can help with both.

1.

Center for Yoga

In the oldest yoga studio in the county, there's a hatha class for just about every demographic.

2.

The Wiltern

One of the best smaller concert venues in town with historic architecture to boot, The Wiltern hosts a wide range of musicians.

3.

Craft and Folk Art Museum

Textiles from Peru, ads from Ghana, and tools from one artist’s imagination have all been explored at this museum.

4.

George C. Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits

Woolly mammoths, saber-tooth cats, giant sloths! The skeletons are fascinating, and during the summer visitors can watch and excavation in progress. Just be prepared for the smell.

5.

Sheila Kelley's S Factor

So you’re a married woman, a mother, or a “good girl.” That doesn’t mean you can’t let out your inner freak in pole-dancing class.

Dining

Korean food is kind of a given in this neighborhood. But it’s also home to one of the most diverse restaurant collections in town.

1.

Langer's

The pastrami at this deli is as good as any you’ll find in New York. We’ll hear no arguments!

2.

Papa Cristo's

Opa! Every day’s a celebration here, but Thursdays really kick into action with family-style dinners serving up huge platters of Greek classics to tables full of new friends.

3.

Taylor's Prime Steaks

Not as well known as some Hollywood steakhouses, this one is much more affordable, a bit more delicious, and home to some of the best cocktails in LA.

4.

Opus Restaurant

Looking for upscale? Trying not to ruin your credit? Voila! Opus could serve their scallops, sashimi, and sorbet for twice the price. Lucky for all our palates, they don’t.

5.

Sa Rit Gol

Alright, so Korean food is what you’re really after. Sa Rit Gol is a foodie favorite for barbeque, but don’t miss out on their equally delicious stews and braised fish.

Nightlife

It’s a dive bar upon dive bar in Koreatown, with a few hidden splashes of glamour.

1.

Royale

Quite an upscale cocktail lounge, but there’s $3 mac-and-cheese during the weekday happy hour.

2.

Caffe Brass Monkey

It’s karaoke time! The surroundings aren’t fancy, but the singalong joint is still a celebrity favorite and TV-writer hangout.

3.

H.M.S. Bounty

Sometimes the mood strikes at 1am for a shrimp cocktail, a martini and conversation with a WWII vet.

4.

R Bar

Know the password? Everyone needs it to get past the porthole-peeping doorman.

5.

Miss T’s Barcade

You’ll never have to yearn for Ms. Pacman again. She’s here!

Shopping & Beauty

Your beauty needs are covered in Koreatown. There’s also a wine store to make everyone else look beautiful.

1.

Beverly Hot Springs

The only natural thermal spa in the city, this spa pumps its own water directly from below. It’s not fancy, but everyone’s naked.

2.

Le Petite Retreat Day Spa

Those looking for something a little more upscale will find it here, where massages and couple’s rooms are the specialties.

3.

Larchmont Village Wine & Cheese

Rare wines, European snacks, and one of the best sandwich counters in LA. Time for a picnic!

4.

Spirituali

People can’t wear just any old thing to a yoga class in LA. This store outfits celebs and civilians alike in flowing pants and healing jewelry.

5.

Confetti

Matching a t-shirt with a $500 skirt is very in. This is one-stop shopping for that sort of thing.
