There is no shortage of extremely fancy restaurants in LA, so save your pennies and make a reservation well in advance.

Wolfgang Puck’s latest venture is a new kid on the block, but from day one it’s been packed with the biggest stars and their bloodthirstiest agents (it’s a steakhouse).

Matsuhisa

This pan-Asian spot is run by Chef Matsuhisa, as in Nobu Matsuhisa, as in the most famous Japanese restaurants in the world. You can stick to tempura, or branch out to slippery sea creatures.

This lounge isn’t necessarily known for the food (although they do serve up a decent happy hour), but is well worth a visit for the spectacular people-watching.

The well-dressed woman could spend hours at this slickest outpost of the boutique empire.

This salon is like the lab of a very organized mad scientist.

There are plenty of luxurious options in Beverly Hills that you’ve heard of, and a few equally charming smaller boutique hotels.

Beverly Hills Hotel

Beverly Hills was built around this legendary hotel that has hosted Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable and Howard Hughes.

This classy little hotel has some unexpected surprises in store. Go ahead and request a room with a rope headboard.

This tiny hotel dates back to 1939 and has a secretly hoppin’ bar scene.
