It's simply too easy to manipulate the circumstances without our being there; we're not really witnessing anything, merely observing, secondhand.

How about some provenance? -- Some showmanship in the one-on-one way that the masters of 100 years ago did it?

Enter Steve Cohen's, "Chamber Magic," to bridge this conjuring divide. In the truest meaning of the word, he is phenomenal.

Donning a three-piece pinstripe and waistcoat, he takes intimate groups back to when "magic" awed us -- forcing us to question our fundamental assumptions. Like, say, the laws of physics.

High-brow and well refined, Cohen has performed for celebrities, moguls, tycoons and aristocrats (Barry Diller recently hosted him.) He's also performed at the White House Correspondent's Dinner, done countless private showings for countless private people, and is a New York staple at The Waldorf-Astoria. Steve Cohen Chamber Magic

For him, it's a matter of tradition (his uncle trained under Houdini), and this "Millionaire's Magician" is breezing into Beverly Hills on Oct 29-30. The shows will be small to enhance audience participation, and that means a total of only 200 Angelenos will lay witness to, among other wonderments, a silver kettle that pours whatever beverage a guest requests?! Mojitos, anybody?

Sleight of hand is another aspect of the show, but you can also expect mind reading, wowing card tricks, and the wit and originality of a true performer. (We're holding out hope that Mr Cohen rivals Ricky Jay's handling of a deck of cards…)

In New York, seats go for $60. But for you LA, $55. The only thing stopping you from attending, should be the stultifying possibility that you will leave thinking The Illusionist and The Prestige were amateur sell-outs.

Professionally press some proper attire, and make an evening of it.
