The RubyDance. Red Bull. Repeat. ![]() Hipsters and hipsters-in-training flock to this Hollywood hotspot where the 18+ crowd tests out their new moves, 'dos, and H&M duds.Decidedly younger crowds assemble several nights a week at this Hollywood Boulevard hotspot to jam to the latest MTV2 hits and sweat to the oldies (a dark time known as the late ‘90s). Across the street from the Knitting Factory and a stone’s throw from the Roosevelt Hotel, The Ruby hosts a variety of dance nights—including the indie-rrific Bang! and Café Bleu—where hipsters Dance Dance Dance to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs under giant screens projecting videos of the Hot Hot Heat. Red Bull is the cocktail of choice here, though the Tokyo Tea is the house specialty (think Long Island Iced Tea, but with a Midori twist). Avoid the smoking patio, which is always a jam-packed cloud of sweaty dancers and their Sidekicks. The crowd at The Ruby looks like they managed to pry themselves from MySpace just long enough to dance, though they probably can’t wait to get home and MySpace their friends about it.—Amir Kenan
