Tips: Make the Cahuenga Corridor creep by hitting up the glamorous, yet just as rocking, Beauty Bar or the funky Room across the street.

Smudged mirrors, shaky ceiling fans, sticky floors, a dinged-up tabletop bar and hanging red Chinese lanterns give the narrow interior of this dive bar a Vietnam-era G.I. look—while the tattooed Sid and Nancy-type crowd and punk-rock aesthetic give it a CBGB's vibe.

The Sex Pistols, the Ramones and Johnny Cash create the perfect soundtrack for the crowd at Burgundy Room. A typical night here includes glass getting broken, random makeout sessions and lots of liquored-up patrons stumbling out the door. Sometimes, the bartenders will even light the length of the bar on fire when Cash's "Ring of Fire" plays. The tattooed and pierced crowd might seem intimidating, but can be quite friendly. If, that is, you happen look like one of them.—Patrick Green
