There's a storied history to The Derby that includes everything from the club's launch by film impresario Cecil B. DeMille to its renovation during Los Feliz's gentrification boom. But current visitors still most likely remember it best from Swingers, when Mikey, Trent, and the gang go to the club to meet beautiful babes, and end up shaking it up to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Though the club's best known for its swing nights almost every Sunday, the bookers mix it up between local bands, DJs and stand-up comedy during the week.—Jeff Miller
