With a large Buddha statue, dark red accents, and cozy corner pillows, the 4100 Bar is one of the sexiest bars on the Eastside.

You've probably driven right by this place a million times, but just past El Cid and just before Café Tropical, is a dark, sophisticated Silver Lake nightspot that's been sitting pretty in its unassuming corner of Sunset Boulevard for more than six years. Though the exterior screams dive bar, as soon as you pull back the deep red curtain you'll understand why this zen den is perennially packed. With tapestries hung from the ceiling and dragon decals on the tables, 4100 Bar mixes elements of Asian decor with a dash of Eastside hip-ness. Yes, the indie kids are here in full force (this is Silver Lake, after all), but the non-ironic dudes and dudettes far outnumber them (and could whip 'em in an arm wrestling competition, we'd wager). Weekends get crowded fast, so come early and don’t forget to say “hi” to the giant, stone Buddha who sees all but reveals nothing.—Amir Kenan
