Like a 21st-century Cheers (minus the robotic Norm), The Brig is a trendy bar in a well-designed, modern space that still manages to feel comfortable and inviting.

Though it's beautifully designed and caters to an attractive clientele, this place isn't about making the scene; it's about comfy chairs, great drinks, and a friendly, laid-back vibe. Weekends are packed with regulars and out-of-towners chuckling and toasting to a mix of Rage Against the Machine, Sublime and reggae. Tuesday night the house band kicks it up a notch, so come early and be prepared to stay late. Couples—gay, straight, and everything in between—abound, downing shots in the Brig's neat-o glassware, sampling the decent bottled beer selection, and chatting up the bartenders. Feet dangling off the elevated cushioned bench must be politely moved if a pool player needs to bank a shot.
