Romancing a date at this luxurious lounge is easy; affording the drinks on the cocktail menu isn't always.

One of the most elegant beachfront lounges in LA, this posh yet relaxed bar attracts a refined Industry-related clientele. The decor matches the overall 1920s design of the hotel; wannabe flappers who pretend they're living in the Golden Age have an easy time of it here. (The prices, however, remain firmly rooted in the 21st century.) The menus and music accompanying that view can vary wildly from night to night, now that several different happy hours have been added; the point is more to bring diversity than to unleash any stellar bargains. (See above re: prices.) The Monday menu (6pm-10pm) of cheese, charcuterie and wine is complemented by Spanish guitar. Tuesday (6pm-11pm) is sushi, sake and solo piano. Wednesday (6:30pm-11pm): Classic jazz and "classic cocktails" like Manhattans and sidecars. Thursday (6:30pm-10:30pm) there's Andean music with tapas and Spanish wines. Swing music accompanies the regular menu on Friday (6:30pm-11pm), if a lounge can have a "regular" menu with all these specials. That "regular" menu is also dusted off on the weekends, when clinking forks and glasses serve as backup for the jazz on the piano.
