A jazz landmark in Hollywood for more than 20 years, Catalina Bar & Grill has transformed from a cramped (if elegant) space on Cahuenga Boulevard to a roomy (and still elegant) space on Sunset Boulevard, with seating for 250 and a patio.

For more than 15 years, Catalina Popescu made her Bar & Grill the center for great jazz in Hollywood. Now in a new space, Catalina Bar & Grill fits not only more audience members, but also features a bigger stage that accommodates larger bands. Legends such as Dizzy Gillespie and Wynton Marsalis have performed at the club, which prides itself on maintaining an intimate, Old World vibe with tables so close to the stage that carried-away musicians could end up in patrons' laps without much trouble. The bar offers Cristal and Dom Perignon (nice!), and there are full lunch and dinner menus as well. Catalina features two shows every night: Look for regular acts like Michael Konik & His Tasty Band on "Tasty Tuesdays" and the Young Artist Jazz Series, which provides local youngsters a chance to jam. —Tara Tyson
