Bar Noir at Maison 140The quiet, overlooked, but more beautiful sister of other hotel bars ![]() It's cell phones and cheekbones au go-go at this tucked-away bar for models, celebs and agents. With just nine tiny tables and a three-seater bar, Bar Noir is among the most diminutive bars in LA—and the most chic. The red-and-black interior draws from Mandarin and French influences, which may sound schizoid but translates beautifully, with low chairs upholstered in flocked fabrics, misty mirrors painted over with Asian landscapes and a geometric texture to the black walls. (The designer, Kelly Wearstler, has an unmistakable style that's always grand and elegant. She also designed the Viceroy and Avalon hotels.) The crowd is very Industry, with a trickling of the fashionistas who stay at the boutique hotel that houses it.—Laurie Pike
