Backstage Cafe is one of those places where actors and musicians like Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Hurley, Courtney Cox, Slash, Sting and Dr. Dre occasionally kiss the foam or kick off a jam session. Until his passing in May 2006, owner Ian Copeland (brother to erstwhile Police drummer Stewart) was known by regulars to provide impromptu entertainment himself thanks to the sheer force of his much-missed personality. Not to be confused with The Backstage, this bar does shares a come-as-you-are vibe that's similar to the other unrelated location. Celebrity or not, visitors slink inside to melt into the deep red walls, bogart the webcam or just absorb the rock-star vibe.
