The Frolic Room vies with Musso & Frank Grill for the most unusually fabulous wallpaper. It's equally nicotine-stained here, since it went up well before smoking laws took effect.

The Frolic Room is your standard-issue old school Hollywood bar, peppered with a mix of rough-around-the-edges hipsters and old coots. The fabulous old neon sign beckons regulars inside for $2 popcorn and inevitable new acquaintances. (It's a small place.) The crowd cleans up when theater-goers stop in before and after events at the next-door Pantages Theater. —Laurie Pike
