VineWhere the Volkswagen generation gets creative on the dance floor ![]() The fondue menu has gone the way of parachute pants: This bar now has its liquor license, so goodbye bread and cheese, hello vodka tonic. How did all the fashionistas and tastemakers find this small, two-story space? Many are friends with the original owners, DJ Simon Jones and Rose Apodaca, who used to run the West Coast bureau of fashion bible Women's Wear Daily. Now, majority owner Samir Khader (he also co-owns Beauty Bar in Hollywood) has made Vine over into a sleek red-and-black dance den for the Volkswagen generation, by which we mean indie scenesters who have jobs. DJ Myles Hendrick keeps the crowd moving on the small dance floor with a mix of '60s rock 'n roll and today's indie pop on Fridays; DJs from Buddyhead Records put on a punk night on Saturdays. —Lonny Pugh
