MJ'sIt's raining manly men
    Gays, leave your Graces at home. MJ's is an unapologetic guy-for-guy haunt whose intentions (hooking up, of course) are clear (but not actually all that gross).Friends of the female variety, though, seem to be as present as frat boys (we think there were two of each scattered on a recent packed Saturday, and all four seemed a bit skittish). Burly, early-thirties guys quaff stiff, cheap drinks served by the bartenders—each of whom can be ogled and e-mailed on the bar's website. The space, concrete and vaguely industrial, sounds a bit more menacing in theory than execution: Its harshness is tempered by its mellow Silver Lake home. There's a pool table tucked away in the front, and nobody will crack a cue stick over your head if your skills are less than stellar.—Lonny Pugh
