It's all the samesex, that is. Here are LA's best spots to come homo to.Lonny Pugh Boogie MenThese dance floors fill up fast with gay guys looking to work it (and, after a couple drinks, maybe put their things down, flip it and reverse it).
1.
The FactoryThis cavernous 15,000-square-foot club house two mega dance clubs under one roof, with The Factory entrance on La Peer Drive and Ultra Suede door on Robertson Boulevard. Both bump fun-for-all beats for the scantily-clad to enjoy.
2.
ArenaBoy oh boy, what a lot of boys. Thursday nights, the 18-plus crowd takes over TigerHeat, which blares Top 40 videos from huge screens mounted on either end of a football field-sized dance floor, kind of like gay goalposts.
3.
Circus DiscoBig beats. Huge dance floor. Circus has something for size queens almost every night of the week.
4.
AkbarThe long-running Silver Lake gem has managed to overcome initial skepticism over its expansiona dance floor? at Akbar?!?and still fills up with friendly, low-key guys more likely to ask about your tattoo than your bicep.
5.
Dragstrip 66 at The EchoOn the second Saturday of each month, the Echo is attacked by drag queens who must be seen to be believedand the T-shirt-and-jeans crowd of boys who love them. Each month has a different theme. The entrance is through the back door, in the alley off Glendale Boulevard.
Reigning MenCute guys on the quest for same rule these bars and lounges.
1.
The AbbeyIf there really is a gay mafia, this is where they all decide who gets, um, whacked. The ever-expanding bar, seemingly on a quest for its own ZIP code, packs in dapper dudes almost every night, but it's especially packed on the weekends.
2.
O-BarA cute industry crowd takes over this small but stylish restaurant/bar every Thursday for promoter Tom Whitman's weekly Smack. Last time we stopped by, it seemed to have morphed into a fun get-there-early-then-move-on spot.
3.
FalconEach Tuesday night, Falcon's dinner tables suddenly seem to be the obstruction rather than the necessity. At Beige, the post-supper gay crowd is high on fashion, high on product and high on eye candy.
4.
EAST|WEST LoungeIn stark contrast to its surroundings, this semi-private gentlemen's club promises personalized service, successful clientele, a relaxed but chic interior andgasp!a bit of class.
Less Class, More AssBoys, boys, boys. If your mothers could see you now...
1.
RageDon't get upset. Rage usually has something going on every night of the week, often accommodating the shirtless, 18-plus crowd. Drink specials are likely, as are strippers. The dance floor is not a place to bring pure-hearted red-staters.
2.
FubarYou might need a shower after you leave. And you'll probably have a couple guys in there with you.
3.
Micky'sDance floor: Check. Strippers: Check. Gleefully profane lip-synching drag queens each Monday? Check, honey!
5.
Fiesta CantinaSeems like it's always happy hour at this casual spot. Friendly guys (whose smiles quickly become a bit more crooked after a couple cheap, strong margaritas) come here for the rooftop and the front patio, which offers prime what-is-that-guy-wearing gawking at the passing crowds.
Lez Dance! Will luck be a lady tonight? These girls sure hope so.
1.
Jewel's Catch OneYes, it's in a dumpy neighborhood. No, the girls aren't usually Cahuenga Corridor material (is that a bad thing?). Yes, it's an LA classic.
2.
Bigfoot LodgeTuesdays here aren't exclusively gay, but lesbians do keep lipstick handy in their vintage purses for the occasional excursion here.
4.
Fuse at HereWest Hollywood sometimes seems to be completely lesbian-free. Poor girls, where's their little bubble? Oh. Here. Thursdays.
