DJ StoneRokk (nee Michael Stone) doesn’t have time for a girlfriend, between his weekly nights at Privilege (Tuesdays), Les Deux (Wednesdays) and Area (Saturdays) and his high-profile national gigs in Las Vegas and elsewhere. But the girls on the dance floor are smitten with this Queens, NY transplant anyway. His intoxicating mixes of hip-hop, ‘80s and rock keep the party energized and the random insertion of songs by the Beatles or The Four Seasons are always a fresh surprise. So is his blunt sense of humor. Alexandra Le Tellier
1.
Where do you shop for records?I used to go to Golden Oldies on Hollywood Boulevard. The price of the record was based on the mood of the old man who worked behind the counter. If he liked the record, he’d play you his favorite song, but if he didn’t like it he would be like, ‘$1.50.’ Now that it’s closed, Amoeba.
2.
Where’s your favorite place to DJ?I used to do Monday nights at Tokio. The smart kids would come and listen to good music.
3.
Where’s the best place to go to on a first date?Gyu-Kaku. It’s the best place for her to practice the most fundamental part of the relationship: cooking. [Ed. note: Diners cook their meat and seafood on the tabletop grill.] Later, if she likes what I’ve had to say, we can practice making babies.
4.
Where do you like to go shopping?Undefeated for sneakers and shoes. And I’m a huge fan of Bristol Farms because I cook since I haven’t met a girl to cook for me yet.
5.
What’s your favorite lunch place?Well I usually don’t wake up until dinner. I like to go to Giovanni’s on PCH because I’m Italian and Italian food is good. It helps that my uncle owns it so I don’t have to pay for meals.
6.
What’s the most appealing LA-style workout: hiking on Runyon Canyon, surfing in Malibu or getting hardcore at Barry’s Bootcamp? If I were to start working out, because DJs don’t do things like that, it would definitely be Runyon Canyon because there’s the most visual stimulation in the form of Hollywood starlets.
7.
You have the night off. Are you at Lou, Lala’s or Lola’s?Probably Lola’s because it’s right down the street from my house and I can crawl home.
8.
Say your nights are numbered. Would you rather go to Bar 107, Level 3 or Club 7969?I don’t like going out to clubswho likes hanging out in their office? But if I had to pick, Level 3 because I used to DJ there and it was a pretty cool office.
9.
If this were your last day in LA, how would you spend it?I’d rent out the back room at Fogo de Chao and invite my friends and family. Then I’d go to some sh--hole dive bar like the Coronet Pub on La Cienega Boulevard where I didn’t have to run into anyone I didn’t like.

![]() I’d rather get a request for MC Serch’s ‘Back to the Grill.’ The girl who asks me for that will have my heart in marriage.
---StoneRokk, who normally doesn’t like getting song requests when he’s DJing
