Star DJs from all around the globe and a revamped, super-size room have made this relocated dance bash large and in charge once again.

Attempting to conjure the circus-like cache of Europe's mega-clubs, Dave Dean's Giant (formerly at Avalon) may have put LA on the map electro-wise, but disagreements with his former venue's proprietors and a lengthy hiatus almost killed its momentum. Now Dean is back at the Vanguard, a space that seems tailored to the scale and energy of his weekly events. Resident DJs usually open up for the guest spin-star of the night, whipping techno and house hits into frothy fun on the dance floor—which is usually packed with a mix of rave-y pigtailed moppets, a sporty Asian contingent and denim-clad weekend warriors. —Lina Lecaro
