The space is usually the hang of choice for film junkies and hip-hop hellraisers, but one night a week DJs Steve Aoki and Them Jeans whip up fresh indie beats, ironically bad hip-hop and dance sounds for the eyeliner-and-vintage-T-shirt set.

When Club Meet (with DJ Blake from the band Moving Units) left for Beauty Bar around the corner, Cinespace decided to utilize its bigger room with similarly cool DJs and distinctive live events—which have included performances by Har Mar Superstar, Bloc Party and Your Enemies Friends. (It's boosted considerably by a whopper of a drink special: vodka is free from 10pm to 11pm.) The result is a spacious hang where rockers taking a break from their bands mesh with the fashionably mismatched.—Lina Lecaro
