In the tough-to-fill Third Street space formerly inhabited by Yi Cuisine, this Euro-Asian getaway is part restaurant, part patio, part lounge and all ambition.

The waterfall starts up above the roof, visible from the sidewalk until it disappears into the lobby. Inside and to the right, the relaxed bar area with fireplace. Straight ahead: the enclosed patio, with couches, daybeds and Chinese lanterns. To the left is the dining room, with an ostrich-egg chandelier and assorted artifacts. (We're told they're from the owner's personal collection and they're certainly charming, though we could do without the rows of crimson lights lining the walls.) The varied menu from Danny Elmaleh (Melisse, Lemon Moon) features Vietnamese sesame shrimp toasts, tuna tartar lollipops and snow crab wontons; soups, salads, fish and land-friendly entrees like plum-braised short rib are also included. For dessert, the trio of creme brulee includes Royal Milk tea, mocha and strawberry vanilla. Pleasantly unexpected tastes arrive in both entrees and specialty cocktails, though the price tag does add up quickly (as with so many trendy restaurants with seafood-friendly small plates). Time will tell if this is the incarnation of the space that sticks.

Saturday nights (6pm-2am) the bartenders man a night full of hourly drink specials that have included $3 beers and discounted well drinks to go with the killer bar-food menu. Didn't anyone tell them this kind of stuff is only supposed to be offered on a Monday?
