The mini-mall locale offers no hint of the off-kilter bookings of this restaurant/comedy club, which attracts the best comic iconoclasts and hip kids who love them.

All red-swathed seating and mirrored walls, M Bar is a lot more done-up inside than out. But the performers and people who frequent the place, rather refreshingly, aren't done up at all. This is a casual, un-Hollywood spot with unique, hilarious entertainment. Patrons eat mediocre Italian food while comics do their best to make them laugh too hard to swallow. Familiar faces from VH1 commentary shows like "Best Week Ever" share the stage and the seats with funnymen like David Cross, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Paul F. Tompkins.—Lina Lecaro
