Nestled between a Mobil station and a seedy hotel on Sunset Boulevard, The Bar can easily be overlooked by passersby. But those who make it inside to see the newly renovated digs and good-looking clientele will do a double-take.

In the space formerly occupied by renowned dive bar Raji's, The Bar has shed its dingy past to fight for cred as one of Hollywood's hottest revamped watering holes. The candlelit interior combines modern design and a vintage feel with high ceilings, dark wood fixtures and burnt orange walls. Good-looking hipster honeys in miniskirts and satin tops blend with the equally good-looking but more low-key gents, who sport vintage rock T-shirts and meticulously arranged messy hairdos. When the beaus crave a cig, some air or just a break from the sounds of Nirvana and The Strokes, they cram into the narrow bamboo-lined outdoor alley. Hipster DJ Sean Patrick DJs on Mondays, former Hobbit Elijah Wood takes over the decks most Tuesdays, DJ Sweeney Flytrap plays tunes by Neil Diamond and Iggy Pop on Wednesdays and Kathy Jeung spins on Thursdays.
