Wednesday Night Clubs

Get over your mid-week work slump on hump day. Rise to the occasion and shake your hips to Sister Nancy at Dub Club or join the Dim Mak crowd at 86 .

Please note: Promoters are sometimes flaky and cancel events at the last minute, or take a week off, or disappear without warning. Clubbers are advised to call the venue before heading out.

Reggae reigns supreme at this popular Echo Park venue, where the beats are infectious and the attitude is irie.

4.

Ivan Kane's "Royal Jelly"

This elite squad of scintillating super-gymnasts swing from ropes, scale ceiling beams and somehow avoid toppling over while dancing to Steven Tyler in four-inch heels. From the naughty-schoolgirl outfits worn during "Hot for Teacher" to the homoerotic guitar action in "Back in Black," this show embodies rock-‘n-roll excess at its finest.

5.

DJs Mike and Jon spin punk, rockabilly, classic country, garage, New Wave, garage, and psychobilly, while the bartenders serve up whiskey and beer specials.

Quango Lounge at Falcon

Need a date destination on hump day? Impress your sweetie at this candlelit restaurant and lounge where, on Wednesdays, DJs Bruno Guez and Allen Voskanian spin mellow European and Latin beats from 7pm to midnight.

7.

London Calling at Bigfoot Lodge

This Eastside hipster lounge morphs into a British pub with $3 pints of Guinness and Newcastle for the offer. English films play on the screens as DJ Lee spins punk, '80s, glam, mod, freak beat, goth, Brit pop and modern garage.

Club Moscow at Boardner's

It's all about indie pop, live bands and '60s-style dancing at this 18-and-over night.

9.

Club NME at Spaceland

UK music bible NME exposes the Silver Lake scene to the coolest indie bands before DJs like Har Mar Superstar, Tim Burgess (the Charlatans) and Fabrizio Moretti (he's the Stroke that was dating Drew Barrymore) start dance parties with punk, electro, old-school hip-hop, mash-ups and bootlegs.

10.

Funktion at The Vanguard

Bassrush founder Pasquale Rotello strikes again with a weekly night that showcases the best local and international drum and bass DJs, including Shy FX, Pendulum, Grooverider, Total Science and Mampi Swift.

11.

Wednesdays at Area

The velvet rope at this exclusive club is relaxed just slightly on hump day when Reality TV stars are joined by aspiring model/actor/whatevers.

12.

The Rhythm Club

Every Wednesday night, the old Playa Del Rey Elk's Club is transformed into a jazz age swing club, with Lindy Hopping Jitterbuggers sharing the roomy wooden dance floor with retro-er-than-thou Charleston fiends.

13.

Craft Night at Akbar

Juliana Parr's almost-weekly night combines three of our favorite things: No cover, cheap booze and art projects. It's kind of like kindergarten, but with gin instead of naptime.

14.

DMK: The Choreographer's Ball at Key Club

Every last Wednesday of the month the nation's top choreographers unleash a dance show comprised of their most innovative moves. You can do it, put your back into it.

15.

Wednesdays at Mood

DJ Crash spins a mix of pop, rock and R&B for those looking to get their groove on mid-week. Celebs such as Hugh Hefner, Will.I.Am and Lady Sovereign have stopped by. E-mail guestlist@lushonline.com to get on the list.
