After over a year of producing Check Yo’ Ponytail, Franki Chan ventures back to familiar territory for a low-key Monday party.

The Beauty Bar houses one of the most diverse crowds in the city –a nod to grunge here, trucker hat there, with ironic mustaches and vintage everywhere.  Unlike the neighboring see-and-be-seen Hollywood destinations, hipsters come as they are (read: spend hours getting ready to look like they just rolled out of bed) to relax with a free Sparks on plastic covered couches.  Residents Franki Chan and Har Mar Superstar welcome the city’s favorite local DJ’s to serve as the night’s F***ing Awesome conductors; Red Slurpee, the resident hipster photog, snaps the F***ing Awesome action.  Awkwardly amazing, Sparks-induced dancing battles take place on the cozy dancefloor as the bulk of attendees line its perimeter like a junior high auditorium.  With no cover, no line and a trademark group of faithful attendees, Mondays at the Beauty Bar are Still F***ing Awesome. – Kara Marks
