Mood owner David Judaken hits a high note with Opera, the A-list mega-club half of his Hollywood nightlife aria.

Tucked away on Schrader Boulevard is Opera, Hollywood's new paparazzi hotspot. Partygoers enter (if they get to enter at all) through a doorway of billowing fog and into the outdoor smoking patio that's lined with booths overflowing with celebrities. Inside is a lovely, dark and intimate (read: smaller than you'd think) space, with distinctive adornments that reflect Judaken's impeccable taste. One wall is flanked by rows of curved wooden tiles for optimal acoustics; outside, inflated glass resembling prophylactics do nothing to temper a crowd of hot Hollywood hormones. DJs spinning hip-pop and Top 40 keep the so-glad-we-got-in crowd on the slippery dance floor (careful ladies, we witnessed a few girls take a tumble so find a dry spot to drop it like it's hot). The Alliance runs the show on Thursdays, so unless you're on IMDB or know someone who knows someone, don't even try to infiltrate this elite night. Fridays are run by tastemakers Zen Freeman, Chris Paul and Ryan Cook, among others, who bring a hot and diverse (by Hollywood standards) crowd. What makes a night at the Opera even more fun is that it'll likely be punctuated by bacon-wrapped hot dogs instead of a singing fat lady.— Stephanie Ocampo
