One of Malibu's most striking beaches provides a rocky view of the Pacific terrain.

Massive cliffs covered in wildflowers tower over the shore where surfers, swimmers and fishers congregate. There are great whale-gazing opportunities during migration season (December-March). Showers and snack machines in the parking areas make an entire beachside afternoon feasible. Hiking trails in the Point Dume State Preserve lead to an ancient coastal bluff with sweeping vistas of the Santa Monica Bay, Malibu and Catalina Island. (On a clear day, of course.)
