And we thought Jerusalem was the only place with a wailing wall. Oh, wait, a whaling wall. By muralist Wyland. Our bad.

Long Beach Arena is perhaps the only one in the country that is better known for its exterior than what goes on inside. The arena's outside is covered by "Planet Ocean" the largest mural in the world, painted by famed marine life artist Wyland, with whales and calfs playing and breaching around the arena's curves. Inside, Long Beach Arena anchors the Long Beach Convention Center, which hosts a number of events throughout the year, ranging from concerts featuring The Who, to Disney on Ice shows. Its main tennant though is the Long Beach Ice Dogs minor league hockey team. The Ice Dogs provide more hard hitting action (read: fights) and a lower cost night out than their NHL counterparts in Staples Center and The Pond. $2 Beer Garden Fridays, $1 Family Wednesdays and the ever-popular "Chuck a Puck" are just a few reasons why.
