Exhale’s Center for Sacred MovementMore than 90 classes weekly ![]() Yoga lovers flock from the four corners of LA to take classes and workshops from the likes of Saul David Ray, Shiva Rea and Erich Schiffmann—the Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, respectively, of the yoga world. So we're told.If we had a dime for every yoga studio in LA, we could afford to not go to any of them and have a top-notch yogi give us private lessons at home instead. But the five-year-old Sacred Movement—a member of the luxe, New York-based Exhale Spa family—soothes the pangs of not having said dimes. Located two-blocks from the Venice boardwalk, a mere mile and a half from Exhale's sister location in Santa Monica, the Zen-inspired studio offers more than 90 classes a week categorized by level of difficulty rather than type of yoga. Two light and airy studios are large enough to comfortably accommodate the plethora of weekend yoga warriors who come through the studio's 200-year old Indonesian doorway—for those who crave personal attention, most weekday classes have an average attendance of about 30. Forming a mind-body connection is key at Sacred Movement; instructors use an array of methods like chanting, playing singing bowls and acupuncture. (Teachers have been known to place tuning forks on points of the body to "ground the class.") There is also a complimentary self-serve tea bar in the lobby and a full-service boutique. —Lyndsey Saul![]()
