Every Saturday during the summer months, MOCA stays up late to give art-school dropouts, turntable junkies and barstool pigeons a place to gather for drinks, beats and art.

Worlds away from snooty, Pinot-swirling museum gatherings, MOCA's soirees combine all the requisite Saturday-night stop-offs into one place. So, instead of driving all around the city to that new art opening, that bookstore lecture, that local DJ and then the local bar, multitaskers can cross everything off their Saturday night "to do" lists without having to top off the gas tank. Those looking for a dose of art can peruse one of MOCA's many summertime exhibitions, including "Poetics of the Handmade," The Art of Richard Tuttle" and "MOCA Focus: Alexandra Grant." Groupies and band aids can hit up the courtyard, which morphs into a Silver Lake-style club with DJ regulars from KCRW and The Echo, and performances from beloved local acts like DJ Steve Aoki and funky electro-soul outfit Honeycut. The literati gravitate to spoken-word performances from published poets, cinephiles catch film screenings and creative types get crafty at artist-led workshops. Since we're going to be saving all that money on gas, we don't mind the cash bar. —Elisa Jacobs
