Perched above the Third Street Promenade, Burn Fitness offers personalized, state-of-the-art fitness programs for the flabby as well as the ripped.

Members of Burn Fitness get a membership to Fatburn.com, a website that calculates weight loss based on how much the user is eating and exercising. So, if trainees are honest about that bean-and-cheese burrito from Baja Fresh for lunch (which we learned contains almost an entire day's worth of calories!), the folks at Burn Fitness will know (boo!) and calculate the caloric effect. If that same trainee then goes dancing at The Vanguard for three hours, the folks at Burn Fitness will know (yay!) and calculate the caloric effect.  Members can also take part in the gym's CustomFit program, in which a trainer enters personalized workouts into an electronic database that the trainee accesses via computer at the gym. After accessing his or her account, the trainee can print out a copy of the day's workout to remember what comes after the leg curls. Besides all the customized perks, Burn Fitness offers cutting-edge aerobic equipment (all of which come with built-in flat screen TVs and Sirius radio hookups), a clean environment (equipment is constantly being wiped down, and the machinery even has anti-microbacterial hand grips) and butt-kicking classes like Kickbox Burn Live Wire Hip Hop. And the awesome views of the Pacific ocean and the Hollywood sign don't hurt. —Elisa Jacobs
