Miles and miles of hiking trails wind through this lush wooded escape.

Of the park's four trails, the hands-down favorite is the Hastain Trail: The strenuous 2.3-mile hike is worth every drop of sweat because of the panoramic-view reward. The trail passes an amphitheater and has a choice of several make-out, er, lookout points. There are several picnic areas, a duck pond and a three-acre lake that begs the breathless to take a break. Those who don't have the time or the thighs to brave the Hastain Trail prefer the mile-long Berman Trail and the .3-mile Discovery Trail. The Sooky Goldman Nature Center, near the park's entrance, provides maps and hiking advice. The park has information kiosks throughout, but it's best to have a map from the start. —Mai Dinh
