This iconic movie palace, known for its celebrity footprints and handprints, was created in 1927 by Sid Grauman and still operates as a cinema. It continues to draw stars, such as Jim Carrey and Nicolas Cage, to immortalize themselves in the forecourt of the theater.

The theater itself is a wonder: The green copper roof rises 90 feet and is adorned with artifacts imported from China. Inside, the huge screen and sumptuous interior make any filmgoing excursion seem like an event—unless it's closed for an actual event. The Chinese is the location of many blockbuster premieres, from Bobby to Jackass Number Two, where Steve-O peed on the red carpet. And ladies, please don't feel bad when you see the tiny cement footprints of Marilyn, Ava and others. Hollywood lore has it that those beauties stuffed their size-nine hooves into extra-tiny shoes for the imprinting ceremony.
