Los Angeles TheatreOld school glam
  Built in 1931, this was home to some of LA's most glamorous movie premiers of its day, including Charlie Chaplin's City Lights.Among the historical theaters in downtown, this is the most lavish. It's an awe-inspiring space, from the ornate curtain backdrop to the carvings along the walls to the all-marble bathrooms. The central staircase and gold brocaded drapes (Versailles style) recall the glories of the French Baroque. It puts modern-day mulitplexes to shame. Tours are available through the LA Downtown Conservancy.
