New York transplants Michelle Maccarone and Christian Haye reinvigorate The Project’s former Comey Avenue space with a joint venture highlighting conceptual art with a witty bite.

A white box housed in black-painted brick, the MC space is windowless and dimly lit, the better for video installation predilections of their artists. British Turner Prize winner Martin Creed’s living big dog and little dog installation shared space with a video of a urinating and defecating woman; Paul Pfeiffer’s videos, wooden models and photographs feature the courts, crowds and chaos of basketball games and sports arenas. Also included in the MC stable are sly trickster Christian Jankowski and incisive, resonant performance-video artist Coco Fusco. —Melissa Lo
