Sure, you've seen neon before. But put a bunch of great pieces in one place and it's pretty cool.

Founded in 1981 (which seems rather appropriate considering the '80's fascination with all things neon), the Museum of Neon Art exhibits all kinds of neon, from signs to fine art. The nation's only permanent institution entirely devoted to neon art, MONA has almost 50 artists in its permanent gallery in addition to the ever-changing exhibits. The permanent gallery features a fine collection of restored vintage neon signs, neon wall sculptures and mixed media works which employ the aid of that oh-so entrancing incandescent glow. The museum's weekly summertime bus tour, the Neon Cruise departs on Saturday nights from June to October, providing nighttime open top bus tours of the city's greatest neon signs, which is much more fascinating than it might sound. So inspiring, in fact, you might not scoff at the idea of signing up for a MONA class in neon design and technique.
