For more than 46 years, this intimate theatre has presented an eclectic blend of colorful, interactive, and poignant theatrical productions that intrigue and captivate audiences of all ages.

Considered by many to be the best children's theater in LA, the Santa Monica Playhouse opened in 1960 and has been producing performances for audiences aged three to 93 ever since. Thanks to a unique blend of modern technology, a vast array of programs, and a unique spin on beloved classics like "Cinderella," the Playhouse has become a treasured part of the local theater community. Under the artistic direction of award-winning directors Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie, there are always a wide range of original and fun theatrical experiences from which to choose (Rudie and DeCarlo pen many of the theater's original productions). Over the years, SMP has become known for its Enchanted Lunchtime Theatre, a favorite among parents and their toddlers. The unique experience includes craft making, theater games and story time (those looking for a babysitter may want to head elsewhere, as parents are expected to participate in activities). Looking for something other than bar hopping on St. Patrick's Day? Try A Bit of Irish, a festive performance and celebration of the Emerald Isle through song, limericks, and stories. Not content to watch others have all the fun? The Playhouse also offers a chance for adults and children to expand upon their craft through acting workshops. —Lindsey Lin
