"Tourgasm" star and comedy promoter Jay Davis is bringing FunnyBack to Hollywood with his weekly stand-up comedy night at the Roosevelt Hotel.

Since reopening in 2004, the Roosevelt Hotel has become a veritable playground for the Lohans of young Hollywood, who like to dance it up at Teddy’s, booze it up at the Tropicana and burger it up at 25 Degrees. Now the hotel’s long-overlooked venue Cinegrill, a small, stage-centric room in the lower floor, plays host to The Spot, a weekly stand-up showcase emceed by hotshot comedian Jay Davis. Each week, Davis assembles a motley crew of notable up-and-comers as well as his semi-famous comedian friends, from the hysterical "is he stoned?" Suli McCullough to the off-the-cuff, off-the-wall comedy stylings of The Greg Wilson (yes, his name is The Greg Wilson). As expected, jokes about the movie biz and doing coke in bathroom stalls do especially well here. A $20, two-drink minimum cover brings in one of the prettiest comedy-loving crowds in the city, a mix of sexy Hollywood types who wear their $200 jeans like they cost $400 and hotel patrons who stumble downstairs for a night of laughs. Tip for first-timers: Don’t sit in the front row, unless you want to be part of the act. —Amir Kenan
