This special-edition theme park replaces Snoopy with monsters. Teens and adults who enjoy a good scare should leave the kids at home—though it will soon seem likely that something sinister is stalking the babysitter.

Since 1973, Halloween Haunt has offered chills that are strictly PG-13 and above. The attraction, which is separate from Knott's Berry Farm, has more than a thousand roaming ghouls with fangs, missing limbs, bloody wounds and foul-looking skin. In addition to four scare zones, the park puts on six shows including "The Hanging," "Haunted Hypnochick," and Festival of Freaks, which stars Zamora the Torture King and Miss Electra eating light bulbs and swallowing needles. The Haunt includes classic attractions such as "Ghost Town," "CarnEVIL" and "The Gauntlet," as well as walk-through mazes like "The Grudge 2" and "Red Beards Revenge," a cursed ship touring the Isle of the Dead.
