All year round, this store sells costumes, wigs, traditional games, mass-marketed toys and an eclectic mix of collectibles. But for the month of October, the toys are put away to make room for a Halloween extravaganza. The store is converted into a ghoulish funhouse with life-sized skeletons hanging from the ceilings, dismembered hands poking out of shelves, fog and strobe lights, all conspiring to convince the faint of heart that the Freddy Krueger mask in the corner is leering right at them. Shoppers can find this season's most popular costumes for kids and adults from superheroes to cartoon characters to sexy getups not meant for the PG set. The store also sells props, makeup and custom-fit wigs (which should be ordered during the first two weeks of October). When the witching season is over, the toys and games are brought back for the more traditional holiday gifting season.—Mai Dinh
