The starting point for a day of classic LA celebrity-stalking demands customers whip out a charge card, not a camera.

For three decades, Fred Segal has been a hotbed of celebrity-sanctioned casualwear and designer trends. The store buyers take chances on emerging talent and, as a result, have launched cutting-edge looks from former employees Jared Gold and Alicia Lawhon and international names like Martin Margiela and Lucien Pellat-Finet. Mary-Kate Olsen, Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow have been photographed carrying the store's distinctive white bag with the red and blue logo. The store is actually a collection of boutiques through which rock music blares, making it feel like a cavernous nightclub for daytime hours. Everything is eye-candy appealing, from the Earl Jeans (which also launched here) to the Marc Jacobs and Jill Stuart minidresses.
