Paseo Colorado is to Pasadena as The Grove is to LA.

Pasadena's outdoor urban village has shops, restaurants, a movie theater and upscale apartments—but this cleaned up-community is missing the town drunk, for better or worse. Unlike, say, the Third Street Promenade, Paseo Colorado lacks droves of homeless panhandlers and the overflow of street performers—which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your outlook—but it does have just as many national retailers as The Grove. Shops include Betsey Johnson, Tommy Bahama, Cole Haan, Ann Taylor LOFT, DSW Shoe Warehouse and Coach; there's also an Amadeus Day Spa, Equinox Fitness Club and Gelson's Market. In terms of restaurants, the facility is home to chains like P.F. Chang's, Island's, the Yard House and--of course--Starbucks, but there are a few independent spots like the Bodega Wine Bar.—Mai Dinh
