If you like the magazine, you'll love the new store.

First there was the magazine Giant Robot, then the Sawtelle Boulevard store to sell the magazine. Then editors Eric Nakamura and Martin Wong diversified with a gallery space, GR2, across the street and a restaurant, gr/eats, next door to the gallery. It seems their expansion has no bounds: New stores have popped up in San Francisco, New York and now Silver Lake. The new Eastside location shares space with Junc Gallery in a symbiotic relationship that promotes lowbrow art. The gallery, which is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, showcases GR2 artists and other emerging talents whose work could easily translate to the cheeky T-shirts sold at the store.

The store sells anime, of course; toys for grown-ups (but not those kinds of toys for grown-ups); art and design books from Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami and director Wong Kar-Wai; stationery and stickers with sickly sweet cartoon characters; graphic-emblazoned totes and other odds and ends for in-the-know nerds. Giant Robot caters to the nostalgic Gen X-ers who can't seem to let go of their Atari and original Star Wars days.
