It's always springtime where Angelenos come to buy the freshest, most extravagant flora in town.

More than 80 vendors sell every kind of flower imaginable, from Amazonian roses to fragrant Casablanca lilies to, of course, Gerber daisies. It's best to come early: The pros are admitted at 2am (!) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so the goods are somewhat picked over by the time the general public arrives. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the mart opens to civilians and wholesale dealers at the same time, but the closer to opening time you show up, the better the choices blooming before you. (Caffeine jolts are gratefully received by bleary-eyed patrons at the Operetta Caf.) Payment is cash only, and the prices are well below what you'd pay a florist.
