Shareen's VintageVintage rescue center now open on Sundays ![]() Affordable vintage fashion fills this hidden Downtown locale.Actress/stylist Shareen Mitchell salvages vintage women's pieces and rehabilitates them by cleaning, steaming and mending them at her Downtown warehouse. She began selling them at the Melrose Trading Post, but they were so popular that she quickly outgrew the small booth. Mitchell could easily jack up prices at her Downtown store, but her philosophy is to provide a less expensive alternative to vintage resale stores on Melrose, La Brea and Fairfax avenues. (Pieces often correlate to the current trends and sell for $1 to $150.) Also for sale is Shareen Couture, her private label, which has been featured in Lucky magazine and is also sold at Satine. (That store sold out her first batch in 12 days, thanks in part to Nicole Richie, Carmen Electra and Ashlee Simpson.) Every third Saturday of the month, Mitchell holds a sale in the warehouse section with men and women's clothing priced from $1-$3. On other Saturdays, she flits about the warehouse playing dress-up with regulars who try on clothes in the open setting. Expect half-naked women and brutal honesty from Mitchell, who will refuse to sell you an item if she thinks it doesn't suit you.—Mai Dinh
