The man who designs the Louis Vuitton line has not one but two collections under his own name—both of which have their own stores. The colorful, flirty, feminine clothing attracts shoppers who already come to the area for upscale togs from Stella McCartney, Costume National and Fred Segal.

The ivy-covered Marc Jacobs store looks as romantic from the outside as the clothes are on the inside. Jacobs' trip is making retro silhouettes relevant for modern times with girly shirts, sweaters and jackets with prim necklines topped off by bows or ruffles. But the interior of the store in which they hang is anything but primitive: Evocative of the glory days of LA department stores, the antiques-filled space has an opulent '30s feel. In addition to the clothing collection, there are shoes and handbags.

If the prices at the Marc Jacobs store intimidate you, just head across the street to Marc by Marc Jacobs. This smaller space, dedicated to the lower-priced diffusion sportswear line, bears a lot of the same sense of color and lightheartedness. There's menswear here, too, and lots of accessories.
