Although it seems incongruous with its urban surroundings, the Beverly Hot Springs pumps crystal-clear spring water from 2,200 feet below the surface of the building.

The location was originally drilled for oil, but developers struck spring water instead, which was promptly sold for drinking in the 1930s. This is the only natural thermal spa in the city, and its services are straight-up. There's no Zen music, cucumber-flavored drinking water, high-end skin care or gimmicky treatments. The experience is all about the clean, sparking alkaline mineral waters. Both the men's and women's sections include hot and cool soaking pools and steam rooms, as well as massage and scrub services performed by a licensed acupressurist. The restaurant and beauty salon help ease patrons back into reality after a day of blissful relaxation and the possibility of seeing client Sharon Stone in the buff.
