The beach may be steps away, but the shoes are anything but laid-back.

Undefeated's Santa Monica location is roomier than its La Brea branch, which means more space for the store's signature limited-edition sneakers and its beachcomber clientele. The setup and inventory are similar to those of the flagship—expect meticulous rows of Nikes, Adidas, Pumas and Vans in various colors, fabrics and prints (our fave are the Dunks with Kermit the Frog). More than the La Brea outpost, this location pays stronger homage to street culture, mainly with a giant mural by artist Brent Rollins. The black-and-white collage spans two walls and highlights legends from sports both conventional and street. Because of its adjacency to the beach and skater mecca Venice, the shop also carries Havaianas flip-flops and the Nike SB line. It also boasts a larger women's sneaker collection and more apparel from the house brand, Rogue Status and Nike, making it a viable fit with neighboring Main Street clothing boutiques. —Enid Portuguez
